On-The-Job Bullying

A recent article detailing the state with the biggest bullying problem http://bit.ly/2cKh1u2 discusses the recent results relative to child bullying.  I’ve recently had discussions with adults who have encountered (or are still dealing with) bullying related to their company or employer.  In many situations when there are a lack of consequences, child bullies become adult bullies.  From my experience, adult bullies have at least three things in common:

  • Lack of self esteem
  • Sense of entitlement
  • Lack of ethics/ unethical behavior

All fifty states in the United States have passed school anti-bullying legislation, the first being Georgia in 1999.

This legislation is commonly aimed at ending bullying in schools or work places, but varies in wording by state.

The consequences for bullying should be appropriate and consistent with the goal of resolution to result in wholeness to the victim.
